Their music is a reflection of the eternally, well, bleak sonic frost of the northern spirit, coated with an earthy penchant for melody, all served continental style. The lead singer/songwriter Caleb's exceptional voice is the icing on the cake. With their debut album '[Burns Inside]' (2006), Bleak presents 12 powerful songs with epic distortion guitars and strong, beautiful melodies, occasionally stripping into ballads in the likes of 'M' and 'Any Given Day'. The first two singles, 'Play' and 'What You Are' both debuted on top of the Finnish singles chart, and the album received many 5 star reviews. Also, their collaboration with Ana Johnsson and Kimmo Pohjonen in 'Fate', a theme song for the Finnish-Chinese movie 'Jade Warrior' became a huge hit and was one of the most aired songs in the Finnish radio stations in 2006. It also won the Best Nordic Song-award in NRJ Radio Awards 2007. Short Band History: Bleak originally started out as a pure grungerock band in 1997 in Rovaniemi, Northern Finland. As the new millenium saw the band take a short breather, Bleak regrouped in 2002 in Helsinki, armed with a new musical outlook. The band worked hard on a grass roots level, and their self-financed single 'Crossword' (2004) was in rotation at several rock radio stations. Many labels took an interest in Bleak, and in 2005 Helsinki Music Company signed the band. Support from Ville and Mige from HIM gave the band a great shove forward, and Bleak had the chances of performing as HIM's opening act. Over the years, Bleak has evolved into a convinging rock group with explosive live performances and fiery music that have gained them a solid, constantly increasing fanbase. The band is currently working on their second album that is due to be released in February 2009.
